Rebuild Kerala

Kerala faced severe devastation due to the massive floods of 2018. The unusually high rainfall, floods, and landslides took a toll on many lives and thousands of people were displaced from their homes and were sheltered in about 5000 relief camps across the State. Roads, bridges, waterways, airways, railways were all adversely affected. Local businesses, dwelling houses, household goods, vehicles etc. were destroyed. The state faced the worst floods in 100 years. In 2019 too, Kerala faced landslides and flood.

The first step Geojit Foundation took was to make a donation to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. Then it embarked on the next immediate requirement of providing essentials to the flood victims. Employees, clients and well-wishers of Geojit were requested for donations. With ample support given by them, the Foundation could help many affected people to get back to normalcy within 2 years.   The Government built new houses for the flood victims and the Foundation stepped in to provide some families with household items such as furniture (1+2 sofa sets, dining table, almirah, cot and mattress), electronic items (TV, Fridge, Ceiling Fan, Iron and food processor) and kitchen utensils, that would enable them to bring normalcy back to their lives. The Foundation shortlisted the beneficiaries giving preference to widows, single parents and families having chronically ill patients.
