Let’s Break the Chain of COVID-19

With humanity being tested as never before by COVID-19 pandemic, the deadliest outbreak in our living memory, the need of these trying times is to rise up to the daily challenges confronting us – loss of lives, livelihood and slowing down of the economy. There is uncertainty prevailing everywhere; fear is driving migrant workers to return to their hometowns to be with their family in these dire times.

To prevent further spread of Covid-19 and limit the damages, Geojit Foundation initiated an awareness campaign on safety and hygiene through posters in public places like Bus Stations and Metro.

As part of our contribution to Kerala Government’s Break the Chain initiative, we sourced reusable masks stitched by women tailors from five panchayaths in Kerala, who are currently without any source of income. Geojit has been associating with these villages since 2006 by sponsoring underprivileged school children and supporting them until they finish their formal education.

The Foundation also distributed pedestal Sanitizer Dispensers to public institutions and apartments, which will further strengthen our Break the Chain initiative.

Taking a step further in reaching out to those directly affected, the Foundation distributed food kits to migrant laborers and deprived families with the help of Police and the local NGOs.

Supporting children’s education has been an unwavering commitment of Geojit Foundation. With new social distancing norms and educational institutions having to depend on online classes, it has become necessary for students to have gadgets such as computer, smart phones, tablet, TV, internet, etc at home. Many students are unable to afford these. To offer our support to underprivileged students, the Foundation is in the process of giving TV to students shortlisted by the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Kendras.

The Foundation has provided infrastructural support to one First line Covid Centre at Panchayath level and medicines to the PVS Covid Hospital at Ernakulam. The Foundation also set up a Thermal scanning camera for the use of passengers departing from South Railway Station and a project is underway to provide Contactless Ticket verification system in Southern Railway Division, Thiruvananthapuram.

You may also opt to contribute directly to Central or State Government initiatives.
