The Foundation partners with the NGO, Rajagiri OutREACH to support and positively impact the lives of 665 children from five Panchayaths – Pothanikkad and Paingottoor (Ernakulam District), Budhanoor (Alappuzha District), Perumanna (Kozhikode District) and Vadakarapathy (Palakkad District). The beneficiary children are chosen with the active participation of the local authorities. The NGO coordinates the project by assigning a social worker to one or more Project Villages. The social worker in turn appoints an Animator from within the Community, who distributes study materials, supports activity-based learning, organizes career guidance camps, festival celebrations, and summer vacation camps to enrich the lives of these students. Monthly meetings are held with the students and their parents and monthly workshops are held on career guidance and adolescent education.
Since families play a major role in the development of children, the project also focuses on transforming the involvement of parents in their child’s development through counseling during house-visits and monthly parent meetings. The Project also facilitates income earning activities for the parents such as poultry farming, goat rearing, vegetable farming etc. This Project commenced in 2006 and supports children from Class V to Class XII. Many beneficiaries have become professionals and most of the others are employed and this has made the living standards better for them and their families.
