In partnership with the NGO, Habitat for Humanity India, the Foundation built and handed over 10 disaster resilient homes to the tribal families of Irular at Kuzhipanthandalam village in Kanchipuram district, who had lost their dwellings during the flood. Each new house was of 250 sq.ft with one bedroom, kitchen and toilet. The beneficiaries were chosen very carefully giving preference to families headed by widows, families having daughters and families having one or more members with chronic diseases. The only condition was that they should not transfer or sell the house for the next 10 years.
